Iwao KONGO (the First) (金剛巌 (初世))
Iwao KONGO (1886 to 1951) was a Noh actor of the shite-kata Kongo school (one of the five schools of shite-kata [main roles]). The 24th headmaster of the head family of the Kongo school.
He was a child of Kinnosuke KONGO of the Nomura Kongo family in Kyoto. In 1937, when the Sakado Kongo family line was ended as Ukyo KONGO died, those of the other four schools recommended him for the headmaster of the Kongo school and he succeeded the head family of the school.
Iwao KONGO (the second) is his son.
