Minamoto no Nagasue (源長季)

MINAMOTO no Nagasue (year of birth and death unknown) was a bureaucrat in the late Heian Period. A son of MINAMOTO no Moritaka. MINAMOTO no Morimasa, MINAMOTO no Nagatoshi and MINAMOTO no Morinaga were his sons. He was born to a great family in the lineage of the head family of Daigo-Genji (Minamoto clan). His great-grandfather was Nishinomiya no Sadaijin (minister of the left for Nishinomiya), MINAMOTO no Takaakira, who was a prince of the sixtieth Emperor Daigo.

A bureaucrat in the late Heian period, who served as Minor Counselor, Kebiishi (a police and judicial chief), Uma no kami (Captain of the Right Division of Bureau of Horses), Tosa no kuni no kami (Governor of Tosa Province) and Bizen no kuni no kami (Governor of Bizen Province). He was Keishi (household superintendent) working for Sekkan-ke (the families which produced regents) as well as a bureaucrat working for the Imperial Court. He served as Zuryo (the head of the provincial officers) in many regions as a local official, dedicated himself to local development and had records such as capture of robbers, and he achieved prominence as a good official while he lived.
