Ikeda Masanori (池田政礼)
Masanori IKEDA (January 29, 1850 - October 7 1907) was the eighth (the last) lord of the Ikusaka Domain, Bicchu Province. He was also known as Masanori IKEDA.
He was the second son of Masakazu IKEDA, the seventh lord of the domain. His lawful wife was a daughter of Narinori UESUGI. Masatoki IKEDA was his adopted son. His official rank was Jugoinoge (Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade), Governor of Tanba Province. His childhood name was Hishomaru.
He was born on January 29, 1950. On February 3, 1856, he succeeded to the family on his father's retirement. In 1863, he went to Kyoto and guarded Kyoto Imperial Palace. In December, 1867, he came up Kyoto again. From the following year, 1868, when Boshin War started, he contributed to the New government Army with the Okayama domain, his head family. Then, he distinguished himself by the guard of Otsu-guchi point and attack on the Owari Domain, and so on. In January 1870, he became the governor of Ikusaka Domain. On August 29, 1871, he was dismissed due to the Haihan-chiken (abolition of feudal domains and establishment of prefectures), and moved to Tokyo in September. He became viscount afterwards, and he deceased in 1907.
