Ryudai (龍臺)

Ryudai (1751-July 2, 1843) was a monk of Shingon sect.

Career
Born in 1751. Served as the chief priest of Kiyotaki-ji Temple (Tosa City), Zenjibu-ji Temple, Seiryu-ji Temple (Tosa City) and Kongocho-ji Temple, and then became the chief priest of Kenpozan Jotsu-ji Temple (which no longer exists), one of the two major temples in Tosa. The rank of Jotsu-ji Temple was as high as Karo (a chief retainer). When the farmers of Kawasatomura, Nanokawa, Agawa County ran away to Iyo Province in 1787, Ryudai encouraged and made them return home with no one being punished. He left Jotsu-ji Temple in 1821, and restored Gettozan Jumyo-in Temple (Kochi City). Died on July 2, 1843 at the age of 93.
