Kajuji Tsuneaki (勧修寺経顕)
Tsuneaki KAJUJI (or KASHUJI) (1298 - February 6, 1373) was a court noble during the period of the Northern and Southern Courts.
He was the first head of the Kajuji family (Kanroji Branch of the Takafuji School of the Northern House of the Fujiwara clan).
Career
His father was Sadasuke BOJO, Gon Chunagon (a provisional vice-councilor of state). His mother was the daughter of Takauji YOTSUTSUJI, who was Ushosho (Minor Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards). He was a descendant of the Kajuji family and was known as Shibayama Naidaijin or Kajuji Naidaijin.
In 1329, he was appointed Kurodo no to (Head Chamberlain), and in the following year, he was appointed Sangi (Royal Advisors). He was appointed Gon Dainagon (a provisional chief councilor of state) in 1340, and retained equivalent power even after he resigned from the post in 1342.
When the Shohei itto (reunification of the Shohei era) broke out, he quelled the confusion in the imperial court, exhorted Yoshimoto NIJO in despair, and planned to support Emperor Gokogon. In 1370, he was appointed Naidaijin (minister of the center) and promoted to Juichii (Junior First Rank); however, he resigned from the post in the following year. He enjoyed the confidence of both Emperor Kogon and Emperor Gokogon who were emperors of the Northern Court, and played an important role as a leading figure in the Northern Court.
