Kajuji Tsunehiro (勧修寺経熈)

Tsunehiro KAJUJI (December 26, 1606 to October 6, 1688) was a court noble (high court noble) in Edo period.

He was the 17th generation family head of the Tosho family (whose social standing was a distinguished family (court noble), Kanroji branch of the Takafuji group of the Northern House of the Fujiwara clan).

Career

He was the child of a Councilor Toshimasa BOJO, formerly called Toshinao BOJO. He was the adopted son of Mitsutoyo KAJUJI, Gon Dainagon (a provisional chief councilor of state) (or Noritoyo KAJUJI, assistant captain of the Right Division of Middle Palace Guards). His mother was a daughter of Shigemasa MATSUKURA, governor of Bungo Province. His lawful wife was a daughter of Katsusada MIZUNO, governor of Hyuga Province (the lord of Bingofukuyama Domain). His second wife was a daughter of Shojun TOKUNAGA (direct retainer of the shogun). Among his real children were the provisional chief councilor Tsuneyoshi KAJUJI, Gon Chunagon (a provisional vice-councilor of state) Tsunenao HONAMI (founder of the HONAMI family) and Tsunetaka MATSUTARA (adopted child of Jingoemon MATSUDAIRA, a retainer of Takamatsu clan).

In January 12, 1631, he was appointed Sangi (councillor).

In July 10, 1658, he served buke tenso (Imperial official in charge of communication between the shogunate and the court).

In June 8, 1672, he became a priest and took the Buddhist name Shoko.

His most highest rank appointed was Shonii Gon Dainagon (Senior Second Rank Provisional Chief Councilor of State). He was called with the one character name "干", and left behind a lot of tanzaku (short books).
